Renault Megane 4, and Independent Garage.
In November last year, I took my Renault Megane 4 to an independent garage to have both my drop links changed. I supplied the garage with Optimal branded parts, which they fitted for me.
This week, I had my MOT and was pleased to find that my car had passed. However, I did receive some advisories, one of which related to the drop links. Whilst there was no issue with the parts themselves, the advisories indicated that the anti roll bar linkage ball joint may need to be replaced in the future.
I was slightly concerned by this news, but decided to carry out some further research into the issue. It appears that the anti roll bar linkage ball joint is a known problem with Renault Megane 4 models, and it is not unusual to see advisories relating to this part.
Despite this, I am pleased with the service I received from the independent garage. They were able to source the parts I required, and fit them for me at a reasonable price. While I am disappointed that there may still be some issues in the future, I believe that this is just part and parcel of owning a car.
In summary, if you are looking to have your drop links changed in a Renault Megane 4, it is worth considering the potential issues with the anti roll bar linkage ball joint. However, I would still highly recommend using an independent garage for the work, as they can provide a high level of service at a more affordable price point. The Optimal branded parts also seemed to be of good quality, so I would certainly consider using them again in the future.
